5 Reasons You Should Go On A Girls Trip At Least Once

Can we first just take a moment to fully absorb this image? It looks like it is a postcard, right? It’s not. I took the photo. I was standing right there and captured the most amazing sunset in Caye Caulker, Belize. This was the very first day of our trip and it encapsulates all that the trip was. Every time I look at this photo I am instantly transported right back to that moment.

5 Reasons You Should Go On A Girls Trip At Least Once

A friend of mine from high school, who also loves to travel, asked me if I wanted to join her on a girl’s trip to Belize. She was putting feelers out there to see who was interested. I jumped on board in two seconds. Travel? Yes! A trip with a good friend? Yes! It doesn’t take that much to twist my arm to go explore a new country I haven’t been to before. The wanderlust bug bit me at a very young age and I make a good effort to travel at least one place new every year.

So what’s the meaning behind 5 reasons you should go on a girl’s trip at least once? Well there were five of us that explored Belize together so I thought it would be fun to play off that number.

Bonding experience with lots of inside jokes

Think back to your early days of bonding with the girls. These kinds of trips easily take you back to those moments. While you are all adults and participate in different activities now (can we say wine tasting?) the feeling of that childhood bonding is very much present. Getting to spend so much time with your friends creates tons of fun memories and a few inside jokes to take home with you. Everyone’s lives get so busy as we get older and trips like this allow for you to continue to build upon those friendships when you don’t get to see each other as often anymore.

Independence and self growth

Self growth and a sense of independence are two main experiences one gains from traveling. There is something about getting out of your comfort zone that really challenges you as a person. You get to experience different cultures, foreign foods, and sometimes language barriers.

Traveling in packs is safer

There is something so rewarding about being a solo traveler. It’s a type of growth one can’t explain, but has to experience on their own. It’s the ultimate out of your comfort zone experience. There is something to be said about travelling in packs though. Sharing experiences with someone or a group are just as rewarding. Safety is a big factor here. When you are in a foreign country and don’t always understand the culture or language, it’s nice not to be in it alone.

You get to experience more because it’s more affordable

When we travel in a group we always rent a home or condo off of airbnb or vrbo. It helps to keep housing expenses so much lower and affordable for everyone. It gives you the opportunity to spend more money on experiences. If you’re a huge foodie like me, it also gives you more money to spend on trying out new restaurants. If you are trying to get the most out of your trip, being able to book a home that has a kitchen can help save a lot. There were many days we would cook breakfast before heading out and exploring. That helped to keep costs down a lot. If the holidays are coming up, now would be a great time to ask family for an airbnb giftcard to help fund your future travels.

So many picture opportunities

We all know about the selfie stick. Or using your own arm for a selfie. There is nothing quite as good as having your friends with you to take photos. They can help you capture all those amazing shots to share with others about your trip. It’s also fun to create a group album together where everyone can add photos from the trip. Then you can pick and choose if someone got a shot you weren’t able to capture or maybe a better angle.

First I want to say I did think it was a postcard LOL. That is an amazingly beautiful picture!!! Loved the article also. I do agree with independence and self-growth. I was able to do a girls trip to Paris when I was younger and I know it helped with my confidence and like your article also said its safer to travel in a group.

Vegas is so fun for a girls trip. I did a girls trip to see Britney Spears a couple years ago. So fun!

UGh yes! I need to do this. My friends are hard to coordinate with though and I always feel like I am stuck doing the heavy lifting to plan.

It is hard to coordinate schedules with a group, that’s for sure! It’s so worth it once you get there though.

I agree with all the points you mentioned as to why traveling with girlfriends is important. I know for a fact that clicking pictures is more fun with girls than guys 🙂

This is AWESOME!! I’ve been in the baby-raising phase for quite some time. Now that we are out of that crazy-toddler stage, it’s time to plan a trip with my girls!

I couldn’t agree more with your post, Krissy. A girls’ trip offers a completely different and unforgettable experience. Would you mind recommending some good travel destination for a girls’ trip?

I totally agree. I went to New Orleans for a bachelorette party for a friend. I didn’t know anyone but the bride to be and her mom. I ended up meeting a lot of great girls and had a blast at the wedding ceremony and reception because I knew so many people.
